the bomfunk mcs performing uprocking beats. this band emerged as a finnish hip hop sensation igniting the music scene in the late 90s and early 2000s. fronted by the charismatic rapper b.o. dubb also known as raymond ebanks and backed by the masterful producer js16 jaakko salovaara the group brought a fresh blend of beats that resonated globally.
their debut album in stereo 1999 sony music kickstarted their journey to fame boasting hit singles like freestyler uprocking beats and bboys amp flygirls. these tracks didnt just make waves they created a tsunami of popularity especially in the united kingdom where they were adored. uprocking beats even claimed the top spot on the finnish dance charts.
freestyler the anthem that propelled them to international acclaim became a sensation across europe by 2000. its infectious beats and b.o. dubbs infectious lyrics skyrocketed the single to the highestselling track of the year in europe. it conquered charts in australia new zealand denmark norway sweden the netherlands italy and germany clinching the number one spot in many. yet its rise wasnt without a bit of controversythe uk radio version tweaked a certain line and the music video had a noteworthy presence of sony products.
