this is part 2 of my instructional series on rebinding paperback and hardcover books in leather. the first video focused on removing the pages from the original book gilding the page edges and preparing the text for a new cover. check out this link if youd missed part 1
video focuses on making and decorating a new leatherbound cover for the book. i dont go into detail on how i design my cover art but let me know if youre interested in a video on that topic

cutting mat
box openercraft knife
100point chipboard
cardboard tube from a roll of vinyl
tacky craft glue
cheap flat paintbrush for spreading glue with a cup of water for cleaning the brush
leather lace around 18 thick
1 large piece of leather goat sheep calf or pigskin with a thickness not exceeding 2.5 oz
book press with string for securing hubs on spine while glue dries optional but helpful i built it myself
makeshift book press built from two pieces of wood cut a little larger than the book and two large cclamps
jewelry pliers optional
adobe illustrator for designing cover art optional
vinyl cutter i have a cricut maker but any vinyl cutter would work
weeding tool for vinyl optional
siser brand easyweed heat transfer vinyl
regular iron for clothes
optional heat press
